Actor/Writer/Facilitator

I am an Actor, Writer and Facilitator (all round creative), who is passionate about creating work that showcase’s black excellence and shine’s the light on African diaspora stories and impact’s change.

I was awarded the Arif Hussein Award on my MA course at Mountview Academy of theatre arts for my community work with young people. My work aims to share the beauty of marginalised stories that are so often underrepresented or silenced, and is centred around themes of identity, race, home, womanhood and belonging.

I was recently a panelist for the Leading ladies:theatre leaderships and change event Hosted by Jamie Wilson Productions at the century club. A dynamic event exploring the impact of leading ladies in theatre, their roles in fostering leadership and driving positive change.

In 2024 I premiered my sold out one woman show No but…Where are you really from? as part of Theatre Peckham’s Fringe Festival which was then taken to the Bath Fringe Festival.

Audience review:

“In No, but…where are you really from? Monique Eleanor has woven seven deeply impactful poems into a unique journey for her captivated audience. The show provides a generous insight into perspectives that people might not usually take time to consider, or conversely, might be all too familiar with. A heartfelt performance of carefully collected words imbued with profound and urgent themes like identity, grief and belonging, No, but…where are you really from? is an epic poem, a wake-up call, a lament, a rallying cry, a celebration, a must-see.”
